Olympic Swimmer Ruta Meilutyte

We all can find ourselves overthinking at times, but for this elite swimmer, she overthought so much that she struggled to sleep which impacted her race performance. Tired and in desperate need of support, we taught her how to quiet her internal chatter; the analysis of the swim. To achieve this, a series of behavioral triggers (e.g., brushing her teeth) were used to activate and deactivate the self-talk and imagery.

RESULTS:

  • The athlete reported better self-control of thoughts, less fatigue, and was able to improve her quality of sleep.

  • She also qualified for the Olympic games for a second time three months later.

“Grounded in science, very relatable and enjoyable to apply.”

— Ruta Meilutyte, Olympic Gold Medal Winner
