National Wellness Conference

Five members of Imagery Coaching went to the National Wellness Conference in Cincinnati last week where Jonathan Rhodes and Karol Nedza presented research in functional imagery training to a standing-room only crowd. We had meaningful conversations with teachers, government workers, corporate leaders, and wellness coaches from around the U.S. The conversations reinforced the need for our soon-to-be-released online programs.

Over and over, we were asked if we could help train coaches and teams. We heard about burnout and learned a new term, “moral injury” from two women heading up mental health programs for border patrol workers in El Paso, Texas. These government workers have constantly been instructed to enforce rules that go against their own values, leading to emotional and physical symptoms of extreme exhaustion.

One thing we know about our program is that it builds resilience and brings one’s actions into alignment with values. It leads to being healthier mentally and physically. Wherever you are reading this, we hope you'll take a deep breath, remind yourself of what you value, and think of one thing you can do today to bring you closer to living in alignment with your values. We talk about running a lot. It may not be running for you. It may be turning off the TV and picking up the book you always wanted to read. It may be calling somebody and forgiving them. Whatever it is, we invite you to take the first step.
